Civil Service FC vs Polytechnic FC @ Buckingham Palace 7/10/13

Monday 7th October 2013 was a day to remember for Civil Service FC and Polytechnic FC.

The Civil Service, along with the Football Association, celebrated their 150th anniversary. As a result, HRH Prince William invited Civil Service to play a Glemnet Southern Amateur Football League Senior Division 1 home game at Buckingham Palace.

We were lucky enough to be the opposition for this match – not only because our first team are in the same division, but because we too have a rich history of 138 years and counting!

The first team put in a fantastic performance, winning the game 2-1 to take the 3 points.

Whilst we are proud of our first teams achievement at such a world renowned venue, we cannot thank Civil Service FC enough for inviting us to take part in such a prestigious occasion. We’re just sorry we took all the points!

The day was not all about the match – the focus pre-match was to honour 150 volunteers who dedicate their free time to supporting Grassroots Football. They were honoured by Prince William inside the Palace at a special ceremony. Congratulations to them all.
